In commenting on the book SATAN by Lewis Sperry Chafer, American minister, theologian and writer, Cyrus I. Scofield had this to say "I sincerely wish that all believers, and especially all ministers and Christian workers, might in some way be led to read it." Lewis Sperry Chafer said, "The world has been willing to comply with the wishes and projects of Satan to the extent of ceasing to believe that he (Satan) really exists; this unbelief being most advantageous to his present undertakings. Yet the opinions of men have never changed the facts of Revelation, and, according to scripture, Satan exists." Believers will read and re-read this book, and will more clearly understand the dreadful will and plans of the arch enemy of God and man.

I read of this book in an article that was referencing it so thought, why not? It was written by a theologian in I believe 1907. Its not necessarily an easy read but it is an eye opening one. Keep in mind this was written over 100 years ago and the guy lays out much of what we are experiencing and seeing today. It takes you inside the Bible and an in depth study of the character Satan. I've read a lot but nothing quite like this. It is very specific, well documented and kept my interest end to end. Its not a light read but well worth it.Product details

Satan Lewis Sperry Chafer 9781482790245 Books Reviews
This book is definitely not worth what I paid. The quality is not good. There aren't even any page numbers. It looks as if it has been copied on a copy machine.
Dr. Chafer takes a dispensational view of Satan in this book and even though I am not a dispensationalist I enjoyed the book. Therefore whatever your eschatology I believe you will enjoy the book. I really liked the section on how Satan works today.
Yours in Christ,
Alex
I strongly recommend this for a deeper understanding of the world we live in. Our current events demonstrate that we are closer to the end times prophesied centuries ago.
This is brief but surprisingly comprehensive review of the Biblical person of Satan, his activity, influence, and workings throughout history. I found it to be very thought provoking the first time I read it and find new insights each time I reread it. I would highly recommend this book to ministers, Bible students or anyone who wants a deeper understanding of this important subject. Chafer writes very clearly and understandably without being either pretentious or dumbing down his subject matter. I recommend this book very highly, without any reservations.
Regardless of your theological and denominational stance, this book serves as a foundational understanding of who Satan is, his desire for Christians and our part in his plan to make him famous at any cost. There are many sections and quotes to wrestle with and ask the thoughts of others. There are a few grammatical errors, but that is to be expected of a free version of a book. The format and all other things worked well on . Definitely a book everyone should read. Ill leave the theological agreements and disagreements for another time.
The is a fantastic little book by Chafer describing how Satan operates in this world system in which he has a great deal of authority. Compared to Chafer's "Systematic Theology" this was an easy and enjoyable read. The chapter on the believer's position in Christ should be read by all since it seems most believers aren't aware of these truths. Chafer points out a problem we see in the church today, the social gospel. Even in the 1920s churches were being lead astray to fix some problem in the world instead of just preaching the gospel to the lost. As I read these pages I couldn't help but think of Rick Warren's PEACE plan. The only negative I'd point out are two comments in chapter one which show his belief in the Gap Theory for creation. Although this wasn't an uncommon belief for theologians of that day to hold.
I actually got this book for my because I had read a commentary from a writer who excerpted an insight from the this book in his commentary. It caught my attention and I began looking up the author and the book on . This particular title turned out to also be free which was a pleasant surprise.
It was a good study for the believer, scripturally sound. In a battle you must know your enemy if you intend on being victorious It is obvious that the intent of Mr Chafer when he wrote the book was to equip the believer with the knowledge he would need to overcome. This was first published in 1909 and is just as relevant today as then.
